Short version: Everything you enter into Mutual Aid stays on your device. We collect nothing. Your employer sees nothing. There are no accounts, no servers storing your data, no tracking.

We collect no personal data. Here is a full breakdown of what happens with your information:

We do not operate any servers that receive, store, or process your check-in data. There is no user account system. There is no database of user responses. There is nothing to breach.
Mutual Aid does not use cookies, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, advertising tags, or any third-party tracking technology. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar service.
The only browser storage used is localStorage, which keeps your app data on your own device and is never transmitted anywhere.
Your employer, agency, department, or any third party has no access to your Mutual Aid data. There is no employer dashboard. There is no reporting mechanism. There is no way for anyone other than you to access your check-in responses.
This is by design and is a core commitment of Mutual Aid. We will never build features that compromise this.
During the beta period, the "Community Pulse" feature displays simulated data. It does not represent real aggregated data collected from other users. No user data is transmitted to power this feature. The simulated numbers are generated locally on your device.
If a real community pulse feature is built in the future, it will require explicit opt-in consent and will be fully disclosed before any data leaves your device.
Because data is stored in your browser's localStorage, you control it entirely. You can delete your data at any time by:
Clearing your browser's site data or localStorage for mutualaidapp.com, or using your browser's developer tools to remove stored keys.
If you clear your browser data, your Mutual Aid check-in history will be permanently deleted. We cannot recover it because we never had it.
Data stored in localStorage does not persist across different browsers or devices. If you switch phones or browsers, your history will not carry over.
Mutual Aid is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. Because we collect no data at all, this is enforced entirely by our terms of service.
Mutual Aid links to third-party resources such as 988lifeline.org, safecallnow.org, and psychologytoday.com. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. We link to them because they provide real help to first responders, not because we have any financial relationship with them.
Mutual Aid is hosted as a static site on Netlify. Netlify may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, page requests, timestamps) as part of normal web hosting operations. These logs are controlled by Netlify and subject to their privacy policy. We do not have access to individualized server logs and do not use them for any purpose.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We will never change our core commitment: your check-in data stays on your device and is never shared.
